We the Christians watch movies too. Not only The Ten Commandments (1956). Not only The Passion of the Christ (2004). All kinds of movies, for fun and entertainment. They don’t need to preach; in fact, preferably not. A good story with compelling characters can show multiple viewpoints without shoehorning one in particular. In fact, this used to be the norm up until about 20 years ago and it’s gone to extremes in the past decade with the woke rules being embedded into the business model, regardless of the box office returns.
So I will answer the question, why does Hollywood keep disappointing us – because it wants to. You can no longer attribute it to lazyness or ignorance. Yes, they actually read and studied and watched the source material and the original classics. They WANTED to fundamentally change and transform and subvert them. Take the fun out of it, remove the main thing that made it the classic that it was.
James Bond. He used to be the sly, likeable superspy who harnessed the newest technology. Now? A navel gazing technophobe.
Lord of the Rings and the fantasy genre. Friends on an epic journey that you could follow on map. Now? All over the place with girlbosses and deliberately altered so called cultures.
And if they insist on doing this with the fantasy and allegory, you know they are even more obsessed when it comes to the truth and history.
The writers learned they didn’t have to mind the details or get into the spirit of the original. They learned the opposite. That way they get their calls answered. What’s the new angle? No longer new. The exact same angle each time for the past 20, 15, 10 years. Now finally the audiences see the true, obstinate pattern and they do not like it.
Fine, try something new. You can’t because you are waging a culture war on this one specific Judeo-Christian patriarchy. We don’t care about the skin color. The way they use it is a dog whistle and a weapon for something else: to divide, to accuse, to fundamentally transform everything because of their hate and greed. We see through you Hollywood in 2026, but you don’t care, do you?
