2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. — 3 John 2 (KJV)
What is your ideal weight? The philosophical answer is of course the weight that you feel comfortable with, but in order for us to actually motivate ourselves to losing weight, it is better to decide on a definite goal. Choose a pencil, preferably a bright colored one, and write down your desired weight on a piece of paper or a postcard. You do not have to write down your current weight unless you think it’s particularly fun or celebratory to remember it.
It’s the Future that Matters
Next, please write down the day or month that you are determined to accomplish your goal for the weight loss. Example: 185 pounds, 4th of July. Place the note in a secure place where you have access to it from time to time. Read it aloud. Hum those words: one eighty-five / fourth of July / one eighty-five / blue is the sky (be as silly as you like, it’s the positive emotion that counts!)
There is only one more step to follow, and that is the dieting. You may choose to go along with the guidelines of the following method, or maybe you have some other complementary, scientifically proven method in mind (if you have any pre-existing condition, please consult your doctor for personalized advice).
The Peace and Joy Method:
1. Drink only clean water.
2. Stop eating candy, pastries and ice-cream.
3. Replace bad carbs with good vegetables.
4. Eat fruit on an empty stomach separate from meals.
5. Familiarize yourself with the Biblical Diet.
The main thing is not to fool yourself into thinking you are missing out on something. If there is only one thing that you choose to remember from this topic please make it this: You lose weight because you want to, and not because of something you want to get out of it. Weight loss may lead you to having the most wonderful time of your life, but if the only result is enjoying your own image in the mirror or being able to exercise more in the company of your pet, it’ll be well worth it. Have fun!
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. — Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
God bless you, Dear Reader.
